PLEASE READ BEFORE DECIDING TO BUY - OR NOT!
Thanks...
We use both the Royal Mail/Post Office, and a local courier to ship our items to our ebay / online customers. As most of our listings are shown as ‘Including UK P&P’, we choose which option is the most cost effective, on an order to order basis. This helps us keep our service and delivery time as reliable as possible, and our prices reasonable, and often very low!
Generally smaller, lighter items are sent by standard, second class post. Usually they arrive with our customers within a day or so.
With larger orders, bulkier items, and heavy items, we tend to use our courier, to keep our costs and fees down. For most of the UK, this works perfectly. Unfortunately there are some postcodes, mainly on the Islands, in Ireland, and in remote areas of Scotland, that we are unable to cost effectively use our courier for. In these cases, even for the heavy items, we go back to using the Royal Mail. This does mean that, in some cases, there will be a little extra to pay on heavy items. We will ALWAYS make this as clear as possible.
We will CHOOSE EITHER the Royal Mail, OR our courier, and will always choose the less costly option.
Most people who live in an ‘Island or Remote area’ will already be aware that their postcode is likely to incur higher charges. We have carefully selected a courier who ‘excludes’ very few postcodes from their ‘surcharged’ addresses.
If you think your postcode may still fall within such an area, please emails us BEFORE you buy, and we will advise you of how much, IF ANY, extra delivery amount you may need to pay.
We are a small, family run business in the North of Scotland, with an IV postcode, and we share the same concerns about many postcodes unfairly being ‘priced out of the market’. We have gone to great lengths to take on a courier who is also based in Scotland, and does not make the same ‘sweeping’ generalisation of rural postcode prices/exclusions that the majority of courier services do. There are, though, still some postcodes which they cannot service cost effectively, and in those cases we generally use the Royal Mail.
Most affected postcodes WILL know ‘who they are’, but please, do check with us, as you MAY be in for a pleasant surprise!
If you ARE on the ‘remote/Offshore’ list, please drop us a line, and we will tell you prior to ordering, exactly how much extra we would need to charge you. Usually any extras will still be only in the region of £7.00.
