INSURANCE OPTION - UPGRADE OF POSTAL SERVICED

Please note. eBay now removed the option to pay insurance to upgrade postal services for all eBay purchases. The following no longer applies to purchases made from us via eBay. If you want to upgrade your postal service your purchase must be made directly via our website.

eBaY has imposed new rules upon us that make us offer 'free post' for some of our items listed in some categories. Basically they are asking us to hide the cost of the postage in the item price so they can charge seller fees on the postage as well as item price.

Whilst we (and a great many other sellers) have protested for transparency in pricing and for choice in postage service and price, eBaY is insisting that this latest policy change remains.

Our customers will know that we always like to pack well, send promptly and usually use a recorded delivery service. But for many items, if we include this level of service 'hidden' in our price, we would appear non-competitive compared with those who loose pack in an old envelope and send 2nd class when they can be bothered!  It also puts off buyers collecting items to save on the postage.

In view of this and to remain competitive we have;

1/ For some low value items, (where 'free post' (UK) is now required) we will use a non-recorded postage service. Here the optional insurance pays for an upgrade back to Recorded Delivery.

2/ For Recorded items of higher value we have opted to send by 2nd Class Recorded. Here the optional insurance upgrades the service to 1st Class Recorded.

3/ Some higher value items that were originally sent by Special Delivery will now be sent by Recorded Delivery. Here this optional charge returns the service to Special Delivery.

As you would expect we will continue to pack well and dispatch promptly.

With so many listings running and requiring editing these changes will take quite a while to take effect on all listings. We are sorry that this appears complex. We don't like these imposed changes nor the pressure it puts on us to reduce our standards of service and take risks with non-recorded delivery services. There are bound to be a few old offer prices mentioned in listings. Please point these out to us if they differ from the real BuY it NoW price (now with 'free post').

For International Buyers the Insurance usually either upgrades service to 1st Class or will convert to Airsure (where available) or International Recorded.

£20.01 --> £30.00 - £1.25
£30.01 --> £42.00 - £1.50

£42.01 --> £50.00 - £2.50
£50.01 --> £250 - £3.00
£250 --> £400 - £3.90

This Charge is OPTIONAL - If you do not wish to pay it simply deselect it during checkout. Where we see this has been paid and is not required for the service we will refund this.
