Explanation of Shipping
and Handling Charges
Please note that in
addition to actual postage cost, and the packing costs, Ebay permits
the addition of a reasonable
handling fee,
to cover the unseen costs of posting an item. This handling fee is
allowed to include a contribution to the cost of fees associated with
payment - ie. paypal fees, banking charges, currency exchange charges,
etc.
Depending
on the structure and policies of the business you are dealing with,
handling costs can vary considerably (different businesses have
different costs). Therefore, when buying any item on Ebay, it is always
advisable to confirm the postage and handling cost prior to bidding,
then add this to your bid price and consider the price as a whole
before making your purchasing decision.
We do not
make any profit from our shipping costs, and for your peace of mind, we
are happy to provide an explanation of how we have calculated our
postage costs.
So, for
those of you who wonder why you pay £1.20 for "postage" yet
your
package "only has a first class stamp", here's a list of the costs we
incur in the postage of your item:
- the actual cost of the
postage stamp
-
a contribution towards the monthly Smart Stamp subscription fee (Royal
mail charge for the privilege of saving themselves paper and ink)
- the printing of the stamp - ink, sticky label, electricity
- a jiffy bag / mailer
- the printing of a dispatch note - ink, paper
- documents enclosed envelope, if applicable
- fragile and return address labels
- a contribution to the wages of packing staff - we are power sellers
with a lot of items to package up!
- a contribution to the cost of accepting payment, as detailed above
- a contribution to transport costs to actually post the order
Please also bear in mind
that your order is sent fully insured.
We're sure that you will
find our shipping costs to be both reasonable and competitive
