Tearfund’s vision is to stop and reverse the impact of HIV and AIDS by 2015 in more than 40 of the poorest communities where we work. And that includes caring for orphans, campaigning and preventing mother to child transmission of HIV – the most effective way to halt the pandemic.
This is just part of our worldwide mission to bring physical and spiritual transformation to the poorest communities. In times of disaster, or enduring hardship and poverty, our church-based partners are best placed to bring practical help, transforming lives through God’s love.
AIDS is not a subject we hear much about in church, but it’s one of the biggest threats to our world. Please join with the Malawian church by supporting this appeal.

Harris (photo, below) lost his mother to TB, a curable disease. But it was AIDS that destroyed her immune system, stole her life – and left Harris begging on the streets. AIDS is driving more and more children onto the streets in Malawi and throughout the world. In this tiny African nation alone 750,000 will soon be orphaned – unless we act to stop HIV. There is hope: thanks to a local church project, Chisomo (‘hope’), Harris has a home and a future – and faith in a loving father God. That’s why Tearfund is Wesley Owen’s charity of the year - to raise money for projects in Malawi. We can’t do it without you.

With your support, Tearfund can mobilise local churches throughout Malawi. Their mission: to bring a message of hope and to care practically for those affected. For example…
>> £5per month will enable a trained Christian counsellor to support orphaned children living in child-headed households in northern Malawi.
>> £8 per month will provide a nutritious meal each day for a child on the streets of Blantyre or Limbe.
>> £15 per month will keep a child in school: although primary education is free, children need to contribute to running costs and buy uniforms and books.
