Recent advances in ultrasound technology can now allow expectant families to bond with their babies before birth, 4d ultrasound scans provide a new window into their babies world.
4d ultrasound scans use the same soundwaves as 2d.
In 2d ultrasound the sound waves are sent straight down and bounce right back up, in 4d the same sound waves are used but are turned at a 90 degree angle. The software within the Voluson 730 ultrasound machine then translate the images into real time imaging giving us 4d.
Your babies safety is of great importance to us all , so please be assured that all safety measures are in place and both our Dr of Radiology and experienced sonographers will guide you through every step of your scan.
Ultrasound has been around for over 35yrs and as to date no harmful effects have been found in its use, for mother or baby.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A 4D ULTRASOUND SCAN
We start off in 2D mode similar to your hospital scan, our Dr or sonographer will check that all is well with baby, please note we do not look for abnormalities but if we see something that we feel could be a problem we will explain fully and even speak to your Dr or midwife on your behalf. You can see and hear your babies heart beat. We can at this point look for babies sex, we do this from 3 angles and explain fully why we think it’s a boy\girl, if you do not want to see sex of your baby we simply wont look. We now position baby ready for 4D.
4D is dependent on the position your baby is in, profile or full face and the amount of fluid before babies face, the more fluid the better the scan images are.
If baby is laying face down or is tucked behind your placenta it will be hard to get good images, if this is the case we will ask you to change position or even take a walk, eat more chocolate and have a drink to hopefully encourage babies movement.
Your babies position is good a box will appear around your babies face, lay back and relax for the most breath taking and precious time as we…………..

OUR SCAN ROOM HAS A LARGE PLASMA SCREEN FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO WATCH AND A SMALL SCREEN TO YOUR RIGHT.
YOUR SCAN WILL BE RECORDED BY A PANASONIC DVD RECORDER , PLEASE NOTE OUR DVD IS RECORDED IN -R FORMAT, AND FOR AN EXTRA £5.00 YOU COULD HAVE A COPY ON VIDEO OR DVD FOR £10.00 FOR FAMILY OR FRIENDS.
OUR DR WORKS FRI ,SAT AND SUNDAYS 10am to 4pm.
WE HAVE SONOGRAPHERS ON THURSDAY EVENING 6pm to 8pm, WHO WORk WITHIN OUR LOCAL NHS HOSPITAL.
ALL OUR STAFF ARE FULLY QUALIFIED AND WE CARRY UP TO DATE INSURANCE.
WE USE A VOLUSON 730 ULTRASOUND SCANNER.

<We always do our very best, with your babies co-operation to give the best imaging possible. If baby is in a bad position ie facing your back or completey hiden behind your placenta we try on day to get baby moving and may send you out for a walk or meal. If baby still wont co-operate we offer a complimentary scan for the following day or week depending on availablity.
