MAGNETIC SIGNS CARE & USE
The use of magnetic sheet for vehicle signs may, in exceptional circumstances, result in damage to vehicle paintwork. The following advice is therefore given to minimise the risk of such damage occurring. Whilst extensive tests have not given rise to any incidences of damage to paintwork whilst following the advice given on the care sheet, we do not guarantee that there wil not be an adverse reaction between the magnetic sheet and the vehicle paintwork.
1. Before fitting magnetic signs to your vehicle, make sure the area you wish to apply your magnetic to is clean and free from dirt and grit (dirt & grit will reduce magnetic grab)
2. Wax the area of the vehicle you wish to attach your signs to, this will help protect the vehicles paint finish. We do not recommend attaching signs to new or refinished paintwork that is less than 3 months old. Allow new paint to harden fully before using.
3. Always wipe the rear of the magnetic sign with a soft, lint free cloth before you apply to your waxed, clean & dry vehicle panel.
4. To achieve FULL magnetic grab, attach your magnetic ONLY to a flat of slightly curved surface, NEVER try to attach over ridges, recesses, trim, badges or door/panel gaps. The sign MUST be in contact with the whole of the vehicle & MUST not hang over panels, leaving edges that will catch the wind.
5. To apply the magnetic sign to your vehicle, place one corner down first and then position, once happy you have the sign in the correct position allow the rest of the sign to GRAB the surface, smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles until the sign is properly attached - The sign is ONLY properly attached when there are no wrinkles, air pockets or lifted corners. If you are not happy with the position of the sign, remove and reattach, NEVER attempt to pull or drag the sign into position, this will cause the sheet to stretch and will damage the shape of the sign making the sign liable to detach when driving.
6. It is recommended you remove magnetic signs at the end of each day, to prevent moisture (in normal weather conditions) or ice forming (in cold weather) between the sign and vehicle panel.
7. Remove the magnetic sign carefully to avoid bending or creasing, bending or creasing will damage the sign & lessen the magnetic grab. NEVER use or fit damaged, cracked or bent signs. Store separately preferably on a flat steel surface to avoid the magnetic face attracting airborne ferrous dust.
8. At the very least EVERY 2 days remove signs, clean with a mild soap solution, dry and reapply, in very hot weather this MUST be done on a daily basis. Clean signs ONLY with a mild solution of soap & water, NEVER clean signs or graphics with abrasive or solvent based cleaners - doing so will damage the magnetic, vinyl coating & graphics.
9. ALWAYS drive WITHIN the national speed limit, on long Motorway journeys, it is recommended you remove the signs.
10. Remove magnetic signs from your vehicle during adverse weather conditions such as HIGH WINDS & very bad STORM CONDITIONS.
11. Apply signs ONLY to steel bodied vehicles, DO NOT apply magnetic signs to rust, accident damaged body panels or panels containing plastic body filler, as this will greatly reduce the magnetic grab.
There is no warranty expressed or implied against loss of signs or damage to vehicle surfaces, you or other persons as we have no control over how signs are cared for, altered, stored, and used, or the surface to which the signs are applied. It is in your own interests to follow these instructions carefully & fully. |
