FITTING AND MEASUREMENT

Choosing the right style for your particular needs is as important as getting your size right. It is important that you know what a bra should look like and feel like when it fits properly. It just takes a few seconds to know whether you have got the right fit or not.

What your bra should look like

1.      The strap round your body should be firm and comfortable. While looking in the mirror you should see the strap that runs around your body is horizontal and not ride up at the back at all. The bottom of your bra should be straight all around the body. If your bra rides up at the back your bra size is too big around the body and you need to order a smaller size, e.g. 36 not 38

2.      The wires at the front should lie flat against your rib cage and should not dig in, rub or poke out at the front. If you get indents and red marks on your shoulders then the straps may be too tight. Support should come from the body of the bra.

3.       The breasts should be enclosed in the cups and you should have a smooth line where the fabric at the top of the cup ends and meets your busts. You should not have any ridge or bulging over the top or sides of the cups, even if you are wearing a balconette style or lower cut shape bra.  If your bust bulges over the top of the cup or around the side of the bra and gives an uneven silhouette then your cup size is too small and you need to order the next cup size, e.g. D not C

Finding the perfect fit

Before trying on the bra, lengthen the straps and push underwired (if any) around to the centre front of the bra. Fasten on the loosest setting and then adjust the shoulder straps and back of the bra if necessary. Lean forward and allow your bust to fall into the cups. It is a good idea to try a T-shirt or top over the bra so that you can see the shape that style gives you underneath your clothes.

The Right Bra Size

Two measurements are needed and should be taken whilst wearing your most comfortable bra.

1.      Measure your bra size

To measure your bra size takes the measurement around your body directly under your bust. If the measurement is an even number, add 4 inches (10 cm). If the measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches (12.5cm). E.g. If the measurement is 30inch then add 4 inch = 34. Thus your correct bra size is 34in. If the measurement is 31inch the add 5inch = 36. Thus your correct bra size is 36inch.

2.      Measure your cup size

To measure the cup size takes the measurement of the fullest part of your bust. The difference between this measurement and your bra size is your cup size.

E.g. your bra size is 34 inch and the measurement of the fullest part if your bust is 35 inch. The difference between the two is 1. Based on the table below your cup size is B.
