A continuing story.
Originally, when I set out to build a railway from a lifetimes collection, I decided it was also to have a road system from the start. I looked at all available systems and come to the conclusion that nothing I saw was any better than the Minic Motorways that I had as a kid, so I started to look on the Internet and found I could buy it second hand. The layout is of some size and the amount of Road Rail track I wanted was huge - like I needed 100 straights 20 junctions etc. - few came onto Ebay and also the formations were restrictive because of the limited components - so I had machine tools built to manufacture the parts I needed. There were many - some were successful some were not, there was up until recently, a large dustbin full of rejects. I have decided, now, not to mix the Minic and the trains, and therefore I have sold some of the original parts set which was built at auction and what is left I have decided to put in this shop as I don't have time to keep repeating auction lists. There is still a number of blanks of some of the parts which could be made up if required - don't assume if it's out of stock there isn't any more.
All road/rail track sold in this shop which is different from the original track made by Triang is known as Custom Track.
Custom track has been made up from Standard Minic motorway track parts which have been modified to accept Triang Super 4 railway track which is compatable with the original range. Many dozens of combinations are possible which could not have been contemplated before.
It should be borne in mind that the original range was discontinued in 1973 and therefore all the items offered under this Custom banner, although the condition is always excellent, have been made from components which are over 30 years old, can only be described a used or second hand. I have quite a stock of Mint original parts which were modified as well, these are noted individually.
All Custom sections have had the slot rubber replaced with modern silicon rubber, in place of the organic rubber original, which is seldom found in a reasonable condition after it is 30 plus years old. The brass pickups have also been chemically cleaned for superior electrical conductivity.
If you want lots - Email for quantity discounts.
Got one in mind which isn't here - why not ask - Email me.
As of October 2005, most of the original Custom track parts have now been sold and after many requests another batch is being made. Sods Law dictates that if I make 20 right hand junctions, then somebody will order a left hand the following day which is out of stock, so in future some of the pieces will be made up to order. One of my aims on anything which is bought from the shop is to ship the same day as payment. On Custom track this aim may not always be possible, so I am henceforth quoting twenty eight days delivery on all Custom Road/Rail track. I will try to post same day however, where sufficient stocks are available.
Grey track parts are more difficult to find than black and therefore they are usually more expensive, I am willing to part exchange on some parts, namely Layby Junctions in excellent condition. Email me for details.
Postage costs for Custom Road/Rail is £2 for all size orders - for UK buyers - for most items with 'BUY IT NOW' in the shop - the exceptions will have the postage quoted and a mention in the script. Nobody will pay more than it costs! Auction items have their own Postage Costs individually - discounts are available for multiple purchases. International Buyers at cost.
I would like to thank all the buyers who have bought the Custom Made track for their generous comments about what they have bought. I would also like to thank those who have bought items other than Custom track for their kind feedback also.
