Can the width be reduced to fit my window?

In most cases No!! Most roman blinds are made from fabric and have sewn edges.

I am sure it is possible but you would have to be seriously good with a sewing machine! For this reason a lot of Roman blinds are hung outside the recess (see Measuring my window FAQs).

There are a few exceptions. e.g. wicker romans which can be reduced by up to 10cm.

Can the drop be reduced to fit my window?

The drop is described as maximum (normally 160cm).

This does not need to be reduced as, with a roman blind, the "unfolded fabric" remains at the bottom of the blind.

The drop of your window is not important as long as the window drop is not LONGER than the maximum drop of the blind.

In some cases, if windows have very short drops, there may be quite a lot of "unfolded fabric" at the bottom of the blind. This will not affect the operation of the blind

Can Rollup blinds be reduced in width?

Depends on the blind!! Rollup blinds can be made from all sorts of materials - fabric, wicker, bamboo, straw, raffia or even plastic. The mechanism is very easy and tallows the use of any material which "rolls up"!!

Fabrics tend to be swen at the edges and therefore cannot be reduced. Pretty much anything else can be cut with a sharp saw and/or scissors.

There is always a limit set by the "rollup strings". It will vary but a good guideline is up to 15cm in total (7.5cm each side).
