Laptops installed with Vista Business or Vista Ultimate have downgrade rights to XP Professional

ANY PC (whether it's a PC or Laptop) with Vista Business or Vista Ultimate preinstalled can be downgraded to Windows XP Professional
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED TO OBTAIN A COPY OF WINDOW XP PROFFESIONAL AS THIS IS NOT SUPPLIED

• This will typically be an existing media set that has been used previously to install the Windows XP already running in the environment.
• The Windows XP install will be a clean install, and when the system asks for the Product Activation Key, the key corresponding to the Windows XP media will be input.
• Naturally, because that key has been activated previously, the system will reject it. At this point, a call should be made to the UK Activation Center (0800 018 8354)
• During the automated part of the phone call, when prompted to enter the product key, the Windows XP key should be entered. The system will recognise this as already activated, and the caller will be routed to a person.
• It is important that the caller makes it clear to the Activation Advisor that he is trying to "install under his Vista Business/Ultimate downgrade rights".
• The Activation Advisor should then supply a product key enabling install. The caller may be asked to supply their Vista product details for validation.
• If the caller has any problem achieving the above please ask to be escalated to the Supervisor. If that does not work, please note the name and location of the Advisor, and date and time of the call, and supply us with those details so we can escalate.
