Firstly choose the ear wires you would like (this does not affect the way in which you will make the earring).
Decide the effect you are trying to achieve - if you want to create simple dangly earrings decide the length & what you would like to add to them - this will determine the type of pin you will use.
There are two types of pins head & eye - they work in exactly the same way but one has a loop on the bottom (eye pin) & the other resembles a sewing pin with a flat bottom (head pin) - the length of the pins generally vary between 1” - 3”. If using a standard size bead & not wishing to add a pendant to the bottom of your earring you would choose a head pin. If you wanted to use beads with larger holes or add a pendant then you would use an eye pin as the loop would stop the beads falling off or you could hang the pendant from it.
Before attaching the pins to the earring wires thread your chosen beads on & then follow the next step.
To attach both types of pins to the ear wires use a pair of pliers to make a loop at the top of the pin which you would hook through the loop at the bottom of the ear wire - then close it up to stop it falling off.
Different designs can be achieved by attaching different findings to the ear wire instead of using pins such as earring hoops (many hoops can be opened to thread beads on), multi strand spacers or chandeliers (which create earrings with more than one drop), or chains (you may need to use a jump ring in order to attach some findings to the ear wires) to name but a few - once you become familiar with the process experiment away using anything!
