We stock 3 out of 7 ski designs out of the Storm Skis range each with as equally stunning graphics. The fierce illustrations on the Inferno Lab piste skis for men .
In the dark old days before carving skis I used to hate and fear slalom racing skis finding their agility and explosive acceleration a nightmare rather than an asset and have stayed clear of them ever since. However in January Eric Davies of Salomon GB sent me some 3v’s and I enjoyed them so I approached the ride on the Inferno with bit more of an open mind.
First impression is they are short! At 90kg I felt certain they would be twitchy and difficult to steer but that was not the case. As soon as I had adapted from my usual lazy, cruising stance to cranking over and working the skis harder than I do normally the Infernos literally sprang into life! They are brilliant fun, be careful though as you too will be tempted to keep looking back behind you to see how clean your tramline tracks are at the end of your turn and end up riding into pylons, mates etc.
Very interesting too was Andy spent some time demonstrating technique on how to get the most out of the Inferno/Blaze and soon had them carving some very clean tracks. However when these skiers went back to their “normal” skis their skiing had been transformed. They were feeling for the carving feel they had achieved with the Inferno and applying pressure on their edges until they found it, skidding most of their turns was a thing of the past.
In conclusion I would say the Inferno has shown me there is life beyond fat twin tips! They are just so much fun. They obviously don’t have such a wide appeal as the Rage as in soft snow I can imagine they won’t be as much fun but as an on piste carving tool, brilliant! If you are an intermediate skier struggling with your carved turns, find a pair, find an instructor and find a whole new world of skiing!
