| HOW TO MEASURE YOUR PET FOR A HARNESS
I often receive questions as to which size harness is right for a particular breed. Whilst I will happily offer advise and information, the ultimate decison has to rest with you the customer for a number of reasons.
The accurate sizing can only be made if the actual pet is measured.
The main reason for this is because pets of the same breed may differ and have different sizes based on length, height, weight and so forth. The same dog apparel will fit dogs of different breeds and same weight differently. Pets also differ according to breed. Also manufactures sizes vary for example, a certain breed may fit a small for one manufacturer, but may be an medium for another.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HOW TO MEASURE FOR A HARNESS
Harness sizes are based on your pet's 'girth' measurement. My harnesses are adjustable, so select the size nearest your pets measurement.
You must measure your pet when it is standing up.
You won't get accurate measurements if the pet is sitting or lying down.
Weight should be used as a guideline only as it will not give an accurate length or width.
Measure snugly around the ribcage, just behind the front legs. Allow about 10% extra for comfort. The girth should rest close to the front legs so that it is supported by the ribcage, not the belly.
