2. How do I return a product?

Please email us first. If we cannot help you , we will issue you an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number. Please write your RMA down on a scrip with your eBay ID and include that with the returned item.

Before you email us, we suggest:

- Charging the battery (if you bought  a battery) for 12-14 hours, even when the indicator shows that is fully charged.

- Do not be alarmed if the part number you receive is different from what you ordered. Manufacturers frequently use multiple interchangeable part numbers.

Note that we cannot refund the charges we pay to EMS for shipping in both directions, because EMS won't refund that money to us. Please be careful before you order!

1. Why do you have my battery under a different part number? Why are some batteries displayed with several part numbers on your site?

Many customers found their part at our store, but when they compare part numbers with their original parts, they found a mismatch. Not to worry, we keep very accurate records on what parts fits what model.

The reason you find a different part number (or several) is that some manufacturers will change the part number on the same product periodically. This is based on the date of manufacture, the factory, and country that makes it, and other reasons beyond our control. IBM and Compaq are notorious for changing part numbers frequently.

If you suspect there is a mistake in our description, please email us .

2. How long will the new main battery power the laptop?

Battery run-time on a laptop is difficult to determine. Actual battery running time depends upon the power demands made by the equipment. The use of the screen, the hard drive and other accessories results in an additional drain upon the battery, effectively reducing its running time. The total run-time of the battery is also dependent upon the design of the equipment. Generally, a new Hi-Capacity battery will run 30% to 50% longer than the old battery did when it was new.

The average computer should give you between 1.5 to 3 hours of run time. Once again, this varies for many reasons.

3. How long do batteries last?
The life of a rechargeable battery operating under normal conditions is generally between 500 to 800 charge-discharge cycles. This translates into one and a half to three years of battery life for the average user. As your rechargeable battery begins to die, you will notice a decline in the running time of the battery. When your two hour battery is only supplying you with an hour's worth of use, it's time for a new one.

4. Are the batteries charged when they come? How do I charge it?

The battery or batteries you receive are NOT charged. To charge your battery, please put it in the laptop and connect the laptop to AC power (a wall plug). Most laptops have a LED that will indicate that the battery is charging. See your user manual for the laptop if you are not familiar with this feature.

We recommend that you leave the battery to charge overnight for the first time, even if the user manual   indicates that the charging time is 3 to 4 hours.

 5. Do I need to completely empty the battery before charging it, and does doing this prevent the so-called "memory effect"?

You don't need to empty the battery before charging it. Lithium-based batteries, like those used in iPod,
have none of the memory effects seen in nickel-based rechargeable batteries.

6. My new battery isn't charging. Is it defective?

New batteries are shipped in a discharged condition and must charged before use. We generally recommend an overnight charge (approximately twelve hours). Refer to your user's manual for charging instructions. Rechargeable batteries should be cycled - fully charged and then fully discharged - 2 to 4 times initially to allow them to reach their full capacity. (Note: it is perfectly normal for a battery to become warm to the touch during charging and discharging).

New batteries are hard for your device to charge; they have never been fully charged and are therefore "unformed". Sometimes your device's charger will stop charging a new battery before it is fully charged. If this happens, simply remove the battery from your device and then re-insert it. The charge cycle should begin again. This may happen several times during your first battery charge. Don't worry; it's perfectly normal.

7. How to maximize battery performance?

(1) We recommend that you do not use the battery when you have available AC power. Each battery is rated for a limited number of charge-discharge cycles.

(2) Avoid dropping the batteries, do not use any improvised chargers other than the ones sold by the manufacturers. Excessive heat or cold can also damage a battery.
(3)
It is recommended to condition (fully charge and discharge) the new battery few times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.
Condition the Ni-MH and Nicd battery at least once a month. It will reduce the memory effect.
(4) Use the battery at least once a month even it was kept in a dry and cool storage.
(5) Clean the metal connector (the contact to the notebook, usually in color of gold or silver) by alcohol or Electronics Cleaner Degreaser. It will maintain the good conductivity, which improves the power conduction from battery to Notebook.
(6) Fully optimize the Power Management features provided in system BIOS, and Operating System will also improve the battery performance. Consult the user's manual to fully understand the usage of these features.

8. What does it mean to condition one's battery?

Over time, you may notice that your battery doesn't hold a charge as long as it used to. This may be caused by frequent charges/drains or infrequent battery use. It is recommended that you "condition" your battery a few times a year to get the most out of it. To do this, simply charge your battery to the fullest and then disconnect the AC adapter plug. Make sure any power saving alarms or options are disabled and simply let your notebook run until it completely drains the battery and turns itself off. Plug your notebook in and completely recharge the battery before using it. This conditioning or "cycling" of the battery will help it retain a fuller charge for a longer period of time.

9. What is "Memory Effect"?

Ni-Cd batteries, and to a lesser extent Ni-MH batteries, suffer from what's called the "memory effect". What this means is that if a battery is repeatedly only partially discharged before recharging, the battery "forgets" that it has the capacity to further discharge all the way down.

To illustrate: If you, on a regular basis, fully charge your battery and then use only 50% of its capacity before the next recharge, eventually the battery will become unaware of its extra 50% capacity which has remained unused. The battery will remain functional, but only at 50% of its original capacity.

The way to avoid the dreaded "memory effect" is to fully cycle (fully charge and then fully discharge) the battery at least once every two to three weeks. Batteries can be discharged by unplugging the device's AC adapter and letting the device run on the battery until it ceases to function. This will insure your battery remains healthy.

10. Can you choose what battery chemistry you would like to purchase?

Most of the time you can not. Most laptops have been designed for one type of battery chemistry. However some models can take either LI ION or NI MH.

Here are some of the laptop models which accept both LI ION and NI MH batteries:
   Compaq Presario 1200, 1600 and 1800 series
   Compaq Armada 1500 series
   IBM Thinkpad 390 series
   IBM Thinkpad I Series 1700
   NEC Versa 2600
   NEC Ready Laptops

All other models use one specific battery chemistry and cannot be replaced with the other.
