Instructions and Tips for Fimo Polymer Clay
Suitable for ages 8+
Please Note
Do Not Eat Fimo
Do Not Burn Fimo
This may sound obvious but even adults can accidentally put tools or fingers in their mouths
or get distracted and leave something in the oven too long.
Work Surface
Work on a surface that is just for your Clay.
A wooden board is ideal, or plastic coated freezer wrap tapped to a table top.
Do not use anything that will be used for food afterwards.
Tools
There are many tools you can use.
Special tools moulds and texture makers for your modelling
can be purchased from Panda’s Patch.
Other household items can be used:
Blunt Knife
Rolling Pin
Knitting Needle
Paintbrushes
Empty Pen Shaft
Drinking Straw
Almost anything that will help you make the shape and marks you require.
Baking
Adults must always supervise children when baking clay.
Always follow the directions on the packet for different polymer clays.
Place on a baking tin or ceramic tile.
Tins can be lined with paper or foil to prevent staining.
Fimo is baked at 110°C / 230°F for approx 30 minutes.
Do Not Bake In A Microwave
Be careful not to over bake your project as it may scorch.
If it does scorch, open the window to clear the fumes.
You can add unbaked Fimo to your baked project and bake again.
This is useful for intricate details.
When your project is baked, turn the oven off, open the door and leave in the oven to cool.
Take care, hot clay is fragile.
The Fimo will harden to a matt finish.
If you want a gloss finish you can paint it with a gloss varnish.
Have Fun!
