Many of our items sell for just a few pence, and since we are a business, we cannot afford to subsidise the postage. In theory it should take just under five minutes to make up a single postcard parcel, but because we take so much care it takes us nearly twice as long! The card is inserted into a new (or almost new) Polyprotec pocket, which is then attached to a piece of recycled card - for extra protection. A compliment slip is added, and and the pocket is inserted into a new 'heavyweight' card-backed envelope which we stamp with our return address. Both flaps are then secured with extra Sellotape and a 'proof of posting' certificate written out. It then has to be taken to the post office - which although it only takes about twenty minutes, is more unpaid time. Buyers have the facility to pay by PayPal - even on 99p items and we include our own guarantee - if the parcel does not arrive within 14 working days, just drop us a line (pen & ink variety) and we will refund your payment in full. We then use your letter to pursue Royal Mail in an attempt to recover our losses. All this for £1.04 2nd class shipping (£1.13 1st class). Books are a problem, because they require so much extra packing! Please assume that our postage estimate is correct, but if we have made a mistake and overcharged you by more than a few pence, we always refund the difference. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR POSTCARDS SEPARATELYEach payment you make costs us a minimum of 23p. If you do pay separately, we will refund any surplus shipping (of 10p or more) with stamps. |
