I MUST BE GOING MAD!!

Hello! My name is Laurence, and my hobby is the collection of those little cars I used to play with as a kid, Hot Wheels.

First of all, something you need to know. I will be selling off my collection of models over the next few months, (or years, probably!), as I just got  married in Thailand, and will be moving there as soon as it is possible. I can't take them with me, and it hurts to let them all go, they have taken many years to collect, but needs must! I am selling all my Hot Wheels cars, ( but not T-Hunts!) from 1968 to 2009, plus 1:64 and 1:43 Matchbox Collectibles, 1:43 Franklin Mint, plus many 1:18 scale models.

I will be continuing to sell Hot Wheels after I emigrate, the only difference to you, my customers, is that they will take a little longer to get to you, as they will be being shipped to you from The Land of Smiles :) ! 

A FEW FACTS ABOUT HOT WHEELS, FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, BUT WOULD LIKE TO!

On the whole, it would be hard to imagine  any collectible that has appreciated so much in value over the past few  years. These fanciful little cars appreciate in value around 20% per year- try getting that return from the bank!

Imagine the Classic Cord- 1971 price 40p in the USA- current value at auction $800 !!

It's been estimated that there are over 50,000 serious collectors of Hot Wheels wordwide. The average keen collector has around 2000 pieces in his or her collection, and spends a great deal of time searching for the missing pieces.

However, they only preserve a tiny percentage of the models sold. They get stepped on, left in the garden, and generally abused by the main buyers-kids! One mother said "When my son was little, he sure loved those little cars- he had so many, every which way you moved you'd step on one- now he's grown up, I can't get him to part with any of the ones he has left!"

Since the Hot Wheels brand is now 40 years old, the average child enthusiast is the same age- and that's the age where people start looking to collect things. Thus many adults are entering the hobby.

And remember- the little toys in my shop of today may just be one of the "Highly Collectibles" of the future- Who Knows?     

I still work full time in the motor trade, selling REAL cars, which, I suppose, makes me a sad case! 

So keen I have been over the past few years, that I have begun buying in bulk in order to get all the new releases before anyone else, I end up with a lot of spares, which I sell on EBay to the other 50,000 or so collectors worldwide.

I specialize in Hot Wheels in one form or another, whether its long or short cards, Acceleracers, Disney Pixar Cars,  or Special Editions, dabble in the odd Matchbox Superfasts, and  Johnny Lightning, if they're new enough, and I now have quite a worldwide repeat customer base- in fact over 35% of my buyers are past customers, - they know they'll get a fair deal, and they will get their goods if I promise them.

My aim in life is to collect every Hot Wheels model ever made! An impossible task, I agree, but I am 3,000 on the way, only about another squillion to get!

Regarding postage on my items- I always list my models at the lowest price possible, and am actually often losing money if the bid stays at the opening price. It has been said that the cost of postage is expensive, but I also have to pay for the packing, EBay fees, Paypal fees, and all the running about, and I DO combine postage at about 1/4 the postage of the original item when over two are bought, so please bear with me on this- I am not trying to profiteer out of the Post Office!
