Your Guide to Choosing a Pool Table and Supplier

One of the most important decisions to make when choosing a pool table is the size, we often advise that it’s better to get a perfect game on a smaller table than a compromised game on a larger table.

  1. Measure the room - make sure you take account of chimney breast pillars etc

  1. Work out the size of cue you intend on using - in pubs you'll find that the standard cue size is usually around 48", most snooker cues are of a standard 57". Smaller cues can be supplied with tables, we currently stock, 36", 42", 48", 54" & 57"

  1. Use the chart below to decide on the size of table that is suited to your room.

  1. Once you have decided on the size of the table you require you can now go on to choose style, finish, cloth colour and whether you need a coin operation of not.

Freeplay – v- Coin Operated

The coin operated tables feature a white ball separator and two ball collectors, this means that the balls remain in the ball drawer (as shown on the mahogany table below) so that you can see the balls once potted through the glass window, they remain there until the coin operation is activated when they will return to the ball collectors, the cue ball to one end and the coloured balls to the other. They can be set to freeplay, or from any denomination from 10p - £2.00, so are suitable for both commercial or home use either on freeplay, or use it as a money box!

The freeplay tables do not have the ball draw (as shown on the black ash table below), they have a single ball return with all the balls returning to the ball collector at one end of the table once potted. Other than this both tables have the same exceptional build quality with Italian slate and the same cloth and cushion rubber etc.

  1. Ensure that your supplier has a base or premises and a telephone number for somebody to talk to should anything go wrong.

  1. Make sure that you supplier is recognised by the manufacturer and actually have a stock of products before you order and more importantly before you pay. There are a number of seller out there, who do not keep stock and only actually buy the goods themselves once they have received payment from you. We have heard nightmare stories from customers who have paid for goods and then had to wait months whilst goods are shipped from the Far East.

  1. Other suppliers sell goods on behalf of others, and have never handled the product themselves and are just trying to make a fast buck, whilst it may seem like a cheap deal, when things go wrong they will have no idea how to deal with repairs or replacement parts or goods.

  1. Your supplier should also stock parts and a wide range of accessories for the tables they are selling and know what they are talking about, ring them up and ask questions. If they don’t know what they are talking about, stay away.
