How To Remove Untrue Comments On Your Feedback.
The reason I have decided to create this page, is to hopefully help other eBay users take the steps needed in order to have untrue comments removed.
You may wonder why I have created this page, and why have I gone to so much bother, how do I know which steps to take etc.
The answer to question one is this. After trading on eBay, farily, honestly and reliabily for a bit, I received negative comments and feedbacks regarding 2 of our eBay Items. ALL of the comments were LIES. For full details of this please click the following link: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Giftabilities/Responses-To-MY-Negative-Feedbacks.html
I immediately took steps to have these lies and fabricated ratings removed. Unfortunately eBays policy is that they don't get involved in the feedback system.
From where I stand the fact that eBay have taken away a sellers right to leave negative feedback, is becoming involved, on the buyers side.I understand that taking away the sellers right to leave negative feedback, allows buyers to leave genuine comments and ratings, without the fear of retaliation. But where does that leave genuine sellers?
Sellers, like Buyers should have equal rights when it comes to the feedback system, but we haven't. Buyers are getting away with lying about honest and reliable sellers, while leaving the seller without the right to respond with a genuine rating.
We may have the right to reply to a negative comment, but we can't leave a negative rating. When someone checks a sellers DRS, it's the negatives that jump out and have the potential to put off potential customers. There is no way a potential customer will find the sellers respond, as in normal circumstances they would have to scan a large amount of positive comments.
If you find yourself in a situation where you have received untrue comments, the following steps should be taken in order to get them removed. As previously mentioned the rating will not get removed, but the comment will. This is how eBay will address the comment should you be successful in getting your untrue comments removed.
Although this isn't ideal, when someone clicks on the negative number to check the "problem" at least they will be able to see that the comment has been removed because the buyer has lied, allowing the potential customer to draw his/her own conclusions based on what they read.
The first step is to click the following link and read everything on the page, (you will find a link here for the form you need to print). http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/community/png-defam.html
eBays Procedure on Removing Untrue Comments.
The procedures you have to follow are as requested by eBay, but very simple.
The first thing you have to do is print out the form requested on the above link. You read and fill in the questions. Then you go to the page that contains the untrue comment and print this. You then take all the papers to a solicitor, or some other person of legal standing, along with identification that has your name and address on it (photo ID is best if possible). You both then sign the papers. Afterwards be sure to send a copy to the address on the form, as well as fax a copy through. Once eBay receive these papers they should take the appropriate actions.
Please remember you will only be successful if the buyer/seller has lied about you, and has posted this in a public place i.e. feedback system.
