Purpose
Over a period of time, it becomes apparant that customers have identical problems in getting certain products to work.

We have therefore created this section to help you resolve the most common problems and also use the knowledge of some of our customers on how they overcame some issues. We do not state it is a total solution to a problem, it is help and advice for things that you may of over looked or did not know about.

Can A Cable Be Faulty?
Yes, it's possible a cable can be faulty but in all honestly not very often. Throughout my life I can't recall an instance where I have bought a faulty cable. I have however, bought the wrong one or not configured something properly either through error or lack of knowledge.

A cable has no moving parts and thus can only be faulty if it has a break in it or the end connectors are not fitted properly, both very rare.

The first part to rectifying any problem is admitting to yourself that you either have bought the wrong cable or you don't have the knowledge to configure the devices for which you are connecting the cable to.

You can not configure a cable, only the devices you are connecting.

Connecting A Laptop To A TV Or External Screen
This is probably the most common problem of all.

In most cases you would have to configure your laptop to allow for multiple screens and in addition you would have to ensure that you have selected the correct source (input) on the screen. How you would do this depends on the make and models you are using. Your user manual should tell you how to do this.

The following link will help you get connected:

Connecting A Laptop To A TV Or External Screen

You can find more help by using one of the search engines, just type the above wording in to the search box.

Remember that if you are using a VGA or S-Video cable, this will only transmit the picture and you would need to connect the sound seperatley.

On some occassions, it is possible that you get a Signal Out Of Range message, to help you resolve this issue, click on the following link:

Connecting A PC To A TV Or External Screen
There are several ways to do this, you can use for example a normal VGA cable, S Video, DVI, HDMI.

The one most likely to generate a problem is the VGA cable. Some of the cheaper cables will struggle with high resolution. You may also need to adjust the refresh rate, most Screens should handle 70mhz, although I do know some screens only support 60mhz.

Check what your screen supports.

Do not plug a VGA cable in to a TV or PC while it is turned on or in stand by mode, make sure it is turned off. Once you have connected your VGA cable turn on both the PC and the screen, select the correct source on the screen, (contary to believe and certain users, screens do not auto detect the source. If you think about it, if you have several devices all plugged in to the screen and all turned on, how can it auto-detect and select the right source?) and you should have a picture. If not, reboot your computer in safe mode this should give you a picture, once in safe mode you can lower the resolution and try rebooting again.

Fitting Replcement Ink Cartridges
This section is intended for help on Compatible Ink Cartridges for various Epson printers.

In the first instance; either consult your printer user manual or on screen instructions when you are ready to replace your cartridges.

Remove your cartridge from its wrapping and remove the yellow strip from the top of the cartridge, fit the cartridge into your printer and click either continue on screen or OK (or similar) on the printer.

You will probably be presented with an on screen message saying the cartridge is not an Epson original cartridge, click on continue. The printer should then charge up the ink.

I would then advise performing a head cleaning routine or nozzle check (check with your user manual to find out how to do this). Please note: Your printer will use some ink doing these checks.

You should then be able to print normally.

Some customers have asked why the cartridge does not seem full before you put it in the printer. The answer is, it isn't full, no cartridge is. This is because the printer warms up the ink and the ink expands, so some space is needed to allow for this, otherwise you would end up with an awful mess!
