ABOUT THE SELLER
Hello! - My name is David Oliver, age a secret! I live in Colchester, Essex, UK and enjoy playing squash and tennis. Other interests include fishing, natural history, foreign travel, rural countryside, history, IT and fine dining.

The majority of my working life was spent working in the Financial Services Industry in both the City of London and Canary Wharf + a brief spell in the USA in New York until a lifestyle change occurred in July 2002 when redundancy loomed. I soon found that similar roles where virtually non-existant as the majorty of roles where either being relocated overseas or further automated so decided to set up a business from scratch using what skills from employment stronger at which were IT and Training then mix them up with a historical interest in stamps which resulted in a very interesting and heady business cocktail!

eBay seemed the perfect forum for selling, however the website is very large with many aspects to its online community require a good working knowledge of computers, the internet...............and to really do well programming skills. This lead me to begin offering training to the general public and then eBay Services to the local business community. Please see the 'About Our Services' Page in this eBay Shop for further details.

There have been many successes since starting this venture including an appearance on a BBC Look East television programme (see above image). The main challenge for everyone on eBay is staying ahead of the competition as the marketplace for some products reaches saturation point. The way forward to counteract competition is through creating a professional presence which is striking enough to be stronger than others + through analysing trends and buyer habits. Also the ability to keep trying new enterprises and ways of presenting what you are selling is very important - keep it fresh!.

There is no doubt that eBay is a phenomenon. I was pleased to reach Powerseller status fairly rapidly - I attend eBay Universities regularly which increase my learning curve, they are an excellent way of meeting other sellers, finding out whats new and meeting the eBay staff who are on hand to answer questions (of which there are a never-ending supply!).
