The sensor acts like a large magnet sucking up dust particles from within the camera and outside. Dust is introduced in a variety of ways;
most commonly from the changing of the lens and the use of zoom lenses. Futhermore small amounts of lubricating oil and moisture can collect on the sensor and inside the camera also affecting the quality of the images.

Don't clean your camera if it does not need it! As a guide with regular use your camera should only need to be cleaned once a month.
- Inspect - Use the 7X Sensor Loupe to check if the sensor is dirty
- Clean - Use an Arctic Butterfly sensor brush to remove loose particles
- Inspect - Check to see if all the loose debris has been removed - repeat as required
- Wet Clean - To remove more stuborn marks ie oil, water etc use a wet cleaning solution
Inspect
The 7X Sensor Loupe is made from high quality, high performance optical glass with LED illumination. This is the essential first component of your Visible Dust set up. Without this you cannot identify
if your sensor is dirty. We sell the loupe in a variety of kit combinations with the second essential component -
Clean
The Arctic Butterfly sensor brush. The brush has specially formed fibres that are constructed from specific polyamides that have inherent electrostatic charge build-up capabilities.
The bristles are then chemically and ionized treated to further enhance their electrostatic charge build-up capabilities.
Finally, the bristles are cured by heating them at a particular temperature to prevent any residue being left behind and to enhance stability. To charge the brush simply spin outside the camera. The brush
MUST NOT be spun inside the camera. The SL700 is the entry level Arctic Butterfly brush. The SL724 Brite is more powerful and charges more quickly and also has an LED light to illuminate the camera chamber.

So to effectively remove loose dust from your sensor all you require is the loupe and an Arctic Butterfly sensor brush. However, for a more complete clean you will need to consider the VisibleDust wet cleaning product line up.
