I first visited Mali in January 2000 when I worked there for 6 months. Despite the huge poverty, Mali is culturally very rich and I was particularly struck by the huge variety of beautiful textiles the craftsmen and women produce throughout the country. After a couple more visits to West Africa, I set up a business importing textiles and other crafts from Mali in January 2003.
These are all handmade individual pieces which are incredibly contemporary in their style and designs, and as such look stunning in 'western' interiors. Highly decorative but also functional our more recent additions to the shop include carved wooden folding chairs, leather Tuareg boxes and vibrant-coloured tablecloth sets.
Stock availability does vary so please do check our shop regularly for new arrivals. |
