Dispatch Aims
We try (and usually succeed) to make sure that the item you buy is dispatched on the next working day after payment is received. Items paid for on a weekend or Friday will therefore be dispatched on the following Monday.
Sometimes however if it's very busy, we may have to delay dispatch until the following day. Your order will still be processed for dispatched normally and we process orders on a first-paid-first-served basis. (So prompt payment will help ensure prompt dispatch.)
Busy times can include 'auction days' which means I may be away from the office for several hours trying to obtain goods for you to buy. Usually there is still time to deal with the whole days post, but sometimes (Like yesterday when the BBC turn up to film 'Flog It'! ) the auction takes a lot longer than normal and I run out of time before I have everything packed. Some items will then be left for dispatch the following day.
If this happens you will be mailed with a 'delayed dispatch notice' just so you know what is going on.
Postal Charges
All postal rates are calculated to include packaging, handling, and actual postal charges based on total weight of the posted package. For UK destinations, the handling charge may include a small sum to cover the risk of postal loss.
Overseas post is standard Air Mail. The charge is for the basic service. Insurance is not normally included for items under a certain value, but may be included (at my discretion) in the shipping charge at no extra cost.
The margins I am operating on are quite small, so please don't request further reductions than those shown for multiple items.
Mail is sent using the services available from the UK post office. In my experience is the most reliable and timely service available from the UK. Evidence is always obtained of posting, and items are normally sent recorded delivery at my discretion. (There is no extra charge, if I decide to send recorded delivery.)
Post to UK destinations is sent First Class for items under 1Kg packed, otherwise Standard Parcels is used up to the weight limit currently imposed. This is because thare is a considerable increase in First Class rates at 1Kg (Check with the Post Office website for current limits) Over these limits, whichever service is cheapest is used.
If you require a special delivery service you should notify me before buying to check availablity and pricing.
Do not ask me not to send items unrecorded. You have the option to request recorded delivery, at a small extra charge (Dependent on the service.), but I unfortunately have to be able to send recorded delivery to protect myself from possible fraud, or theft of items in transit.
If you require delivery on or before a particular date or time, recorded delivery, extra insurance, or you would prefer a different postal service entirely (Subject to availability!) , please let me know before paying, so that I can revise postal charges if neccesary.
Combined postage for overseas shipments.
Because of the complicated postal system we now have in the UK, please be aware that combining items does not always result in lower postage. In many case it can result in a higher charge. Thi sis because there are weight limits on the services offered by the Post Office. Items under 2Kg use a Royal Mail service, those over 2Kg must be sent ParcelForce. Neither of these two organisations are actually part of the Post Office (!) and their shipping rates differ considerably. Packages jut over 2Kg cost considerably more than those just under 2Kg. (Also packages under 2Kg gain limited insurance automatically. Over 2Kg insurance is always extra!)
This means I will not be able to offer a combined item discount on some overseas sales.
Payment
Please try to ensure that I receive payment within seven days of the sale date. Failure to do this may result in the item being re-listed, and could result in an unpaid item bein filed against your eBay account. If you cannot be sure that payment will be recieved within this time please e-mail me before this limit expires.
In any case contact me within three days of the sale date to ensure that you have secured the item.
Please remember if you bid more than you intended, and have won notify me immediately. If you do not do this then eBay may still require you to pay for the item. If you notify me right away I can make a second cahnce offer quickly to the oppsing bidder, and stand a much better chance of acceptance.
