Overview

This document clearly defines the product quality specification and shipping standards of products refurbished by 3prime solutions limited (3ps).

Cosmetic Inspection Requirements

Visual examination shall be conducted under good lighting conditions.

General viewing of surfaces shall be at normal incidence and the maximum viewing distance not exceeding 20”(50cm).

Examination of functional parts (e.g. mating connectors/mechanical interfaces) shall be done under 1X magnification as required.

Labels

The part shall not have any extraneous labels or label adhesive residue.

Regulatory and identification labels may be worn but shall be clear, complete and un-tampered.

General

The part shall contain no physical damage of surfaces. The repair of broken external plastic parts is permitted.

Interfaces

Functional interfaces shall be closely examined for damage using 1X magnification, as required.
Damage, which will result in functional failure of the part, is unacceptable.

Cosmetic Pass / Fail Criteria

Burn spot(s) - Not allowed
Non original holes - Not allowed
Non original gaps between body parts - Allowed within 2mm-5mm
Non parallel seams between body parts 5%(5mm in 100mm)
Dented fan covers - Not allowed
Dented ventilation areas - Not allowed
Dented surface - Allowed 1mm-3mm Surface Deflection
Melted parts - Not allowed
Cracks - Not allowed unless repaired
Broken assembly clips - Not allowed
Wear marks (user controls) - Allowed, no holes, legends readable

Scratches (Maximum Width)

Same colour as surface “FRONT/SIDES/TOP" 0.2mm to 2.5mm
Same colour as surface "BACK" 0.4mm to 4.0mm
Not same colour as surface "FRONT/SIDES/TOP" 0.2mm to 2.5mm
Not same colour as surface "BACK" 0.2mm to 4.0mm

Discoloration

Colour deviation from "new" - Allowed
Colour mismatch between parts - Allowed
Printed text erased / damaged - Allowed
Chipped paint - Allowed
Complete repaint (non original colour) - Allowed

Criteria with cable(s) only

Broken or bent connector pins - Not allowed
Deformed or damaged connector shell - Not allowed
Damaged cable isolation - Not allowed
Colour deviation from "new" - Allowed

Functional Test Requirements

Power-on-self-tests.

In-system tests - Not Checked
Service tests - Not Checked

Power Supply Tests

Power supply (automatic) input voltage selector.

Power supply output voltages.

Power supply noise.

Power supply shut down / stand by (power save mode) - Not Checked

Identification Test

SCSI device response to Inquiry command

For parts with motors, ensure operation within acceptable noise limits.

Ensure all user indicators are operational.

Ensure switches and jumpers are set to factory settings.

All parts sold will be free of disabling code (aka virus).

All mains powered units - Hi-Pot safety compliance testing per Manufacturers label will be identified / labelled as such.

Product Specific Requirements

Hard Disk Drives will be free of data other than the required format and bad block information.

Power Supplies are to be free from insulation damage on power supply leads and have no connector/crimping damage.

Mounting surfaces / threaded holes as specified and fit for purpose.

Cooling fans clean to "B4" condition.

"Warranty void if removed" labelling to be attached and unbroken

Memory Modules must be packaged in such a way that they do not come into contact with each other during transit.

If modules are shipped individually, they must be inside ESD protective bags, sealed with an appropriate static caution label and each bag should be protected from each other.

Any labels on the modules themselves may be across the DRAMs but must not touch any of the contacts of the devices.

There must be no edge connector imperfections on the modules such as Solder residue or flaking/peeling of contacts.

Printer Products should be supplied with one print quality test page with each print head / complete printer (Unless New).

Mechanical parts that move during normal operation of the product shall be properly secured in the “parked” position.

Complete printers will not be shipped with any Toner / Ink-Jet / Bubble Jet cartridges (Unless New).

Packaging Requirements

Units shall be packed in corrugated cartons or suitable packaging of a suitable size for the part(s) enclosed and must have cushioning material between each unit and / or to fill the box.

Loose-fill material may be used.
