Q:Why is P&P so dear??
A:Long story, but basically between a combination of dishonest customers and good olde Royal Mail a lot of parcels went missing in 2007/8. For the last year, all parcels have been dispatched by Recorded 1st/2nd class mail or Special Delivery. 100% of parcels reached their destination. 1 Special Delivery was late due to Royal Mail.
Q:Are you one of these sellers that con buyers out of P&P??
A:Certainly not! In fact, if you trawl through my feedback, you'll see that several customers have thanked me for partial refunds. If I have miscalculated or Royal Mail manage to send it cheaper than I have charged you, then the saving minus packing will be refunded but only if you paid through Paypal (wouldn't be economically viable any other way).
Q:FREE P&P!!! Why??
A:I offer free P&P on selected listings as an incentive to buyers to purchase certain items. At times, I feel buyers would be more interested if more items were P&P free in general. If I could offer free P&P on all items, I would! But unfortunately, this is not possible. However, I do not overcharge and if I do by accident, you will be refunded.
Q:I am unsure whether to trust you??
A:I respect that everyone has an element of mistrust within them. I have traded on eBay since 2005 and received a few negatives over the years for buyers complaining about non-delivery which in my opinion was Royal Mail's fault, not mine. Hence reason for Recorded deliveries. I wouldn't have nearly 99.7% + 5 Gold Stars if I couldn't be trusted!
Q:I've experienced shoddy packing in past, how are Tickety Boo Publishers parcels packaged?
A:Good question! I use tough plastic mailing bags/jiffy bags - whichever is appropriate for item being sent. I have been told that I use too much sellotape but this is to last through the Royal Mail system. Also sellotaped with FRAGILE tape along sides/bottom of parcel. Documents enclosed enevelope should be on the outside (providing not run out).
Q:Where do your books come from??
A:Well, a mixture of places. Some are from my own personal collection, others are from my daughter who is studying Social Sciences at college, charity shops, book auctions/fairs and others from wholesalers. A lot of books, I just "acquire" out and about. If I do not sell books 1st/2nd listing I put them on sale in shop... so be quick!!
Q:Why are books overpriced??
A:I list each book as the RRP and it is up to potential buyers to submit best offers on purchases. No reasonable offer will be refused, although please remember, I would like to cover cost of book, fees and P&P if listed as free. I am a business but I try to accomodate the credit crunch as best as I can. Submit all offers,be quick as might miss out!
Q:Should I have cause for complaint, what should I do??
A:In the unlikely event that you do have cause for complaint, please inform me immediately and I will seek to resolve these issues. Items dispatched are well packaged and clearly labelled. If my printer is working, you will receive a packing slip. However, apologies if printer is not... VERY tempermental. If any suggestions, please tell me!
Q:Where did Tickety Boo name come from??
A:Hahahaha!! Well, years ago me and my daughter used to always joke we were going for "high-tea at tickety boo's" when she was small child!!! One day we went to Dundee for a day out and there is a pub called Tickety Boo's. We had to stop and have a laugh - and a drink! The name has always stuck, so shop is Tickety Boo!!
Q:When do you upload new listings??
A:That is tricky to answer! There is really no set day of the month, to be honest. It really depends on work, family, health and life! I have big notice at top of shop if I have ordered or acquired new stock and intend to upload shortly. Check regularly to ensure you don't miss out. Fell free to ask me what I have in stock or when new stock arriving.
Q:If I send you a message/email, how long will you take to respond??
A:I have been told that I spent far too much time on eBay; answering questions, sending invoices etc etc... perhaps longest you will wait will be 24 hours but that is extreme. Normally, you will receive an answer within a couple of hours.
Q:I missed an item, will you relist it if I ask you??
A:Yes, of course. Items will usually be relisted anyway but if you send a message we will do best to accomodate you and relist it for you straightaway. We appreciated that life does get in the way of remembering that all important watched item on eBay!
Q:Can I order and pay for purchases but request that you hold till I come back from holiday or move house??
A:Of course you can. Absolutely not a problem. Please buy and pay for in the normal way and send me a message within eBay or the PayPal transaction that you wish me to hold. I will send you a confirmation that I have received this request and keep in touch with you till you are ready to receive book.
Q:Who makes own resources??
A:This is a mixture of family members. Between us we have a wealth of experience in psychology, training, teaching, medical. special needs, learning difficulties, dyslexia, autism, numeracy and literacy needs to name but a few! If you have suggestions or questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Many items are customisible. What do you need??
